The Hunger Games: Movie

Okay, so if you haven't picked up on my love of the Hunger Games, you either must not read my blog, or not follow me on Twitter (and if you do follow me on Twitter, I'm sure the fangirly tweets will die down eventually.)

Anyways, last weekend I obvs went to see the midnight showing with my bff Jessie.
After laughing and sighing I came out of the theater overwhelmed. At first I was concerned about the things they left out, but then I realized, they just can't add it all.

So overall, I loved it. It followed the book pretty closely, but mostly, it was just good.
Probably the biggest problem I had with it, was that they added swear words. Whattt?
I mean, come on. There weren't any in all the books. That just seems pretty pointless.

So basically, I reallyreally want to see it again. This week.

p.s
Read this blog! It's by the Peeta account on Twitter. This really helped me to understand some things about the movie, so Jessie make sure you read this!

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor

This last weekend was busy, but really fun. To start things off right, Friday night was the 4th annual Bitterfest. Where girls (single or not) get together to be bitter about men on (or in this case around) Valentine's Day. We each had to pick a celeb to be our ex and make up a funny or sad story about our "relationship". Needless to say, it was a fab night, and it's safe to say I'll be back next year. :) Then to top it all off, we went hot tubbin'! Yes, it was great.

Then Saturday came, and I went spring shopping with my mom. Maybe it's a bit early, but I needed some springy type things. Jessie came over in the afternoon and we finally went to see The Vow. We had tried last weekend, but the theater sold out of tickets.

Saturday night, we started Downton Abbey. I know I had heard good reviews, but I wasn't prepared for that much amazing-ness! I really like it, and I can't wait to see what season 2 has in store. We have one or two episodes left of season 1.
But I have to say, probably the major highlight for my Saturday was getting my beloved HG sweatshirt in the mail. I was literally jumping up and down. Ha ha! (see photo below)

Today, we went to church, and then out to lunch with my grandma. After that, we went to my great aunts house where she generously gave us all things of my late great uncles. He was very interested in collecting things and photography. So Emily and I got 4 of his old (one of them is a Jr. Brownie!) cameras. So neat! He also had lots of coins and patches from all the NASA space missions.

Anywho, it was a really good day and weekend.
Tomorrow's Monday. But I'll think about that tomorrow.

I was a little bit excited. And maybe a little cold, too.

This is Emily's and my celeb photos. She had Zac (left) and I had Josh. Obvs. He's Peeta.
My sweatshirt. How awesome is that? I don't think I'll be taking it off anytime soon. It's cozy.
Jessie and I leaving for church. Aww :)

the hunger games

{Warning: this contains spoilers! Go read the books, and then come back. That means you too, Jessie! :)}

I have to say, I was a bit skeptical when I heard everyone raving about these books.

Well...
I got the book set for Christmas, and when I started them a day later, I was done in 4 days.
They are SO good.
I finished the last book a week or so ago, and I am completely hooked. I can't wait for the movie to come out!

I have to say, while I really love the Hunger Games, Catching Fire is probably my favorite. Because by that time, you know Katniss isn't actually always faking being in love with Peeta. But seriously, she could just make up her mind already between him and Gale. Go for the gold, I say, because Peeta is seriously golden. If I was in her place though, would I really act any different? I mean, she's only 17 by this time, so she's still pretty young.

The Mocking Jay is probably the most heart wrenching book. Ever. Not only is Peeta missing from the first half of the book, but when he gets rescued, he's been hijacked! I just about died when I read that he almost choked Katniss. Gahhhh!
The best quote from the whole series right here:

"You're still trying to protect me. Real or not real," he whispers.
"Real," I answer. "Because that's what you and I do. Protect each other."

That line just kills me each time.

I'm definitely a happy ending person, so in my mind, the ending of Mocking Jay could've been longer. But I know it was meant to be that way on purpose. So in the end, I'm glad that at least it has a happy ending.

Hey, it's only 76 days until the movie comes out, right?

P.S! I forgot to add, today is my little brothers 12th birthday! Happy Birthday, Daniel!
