just close your eyes

Hey everyone!

I'm back from my grand adventure, and if you follow me on twitter, you know it was indeed an adventure.

I have to admit, although I didn't write about it on here, I was very nervous about the whole thing. I'd never been away from home by myself for two weeks (please note, I was not all by myself. I took this trip with my aunt and uncle). And I'd never had to work for two weeks straight (I did get one day off- it was wonderful!)

I have to say, it was one of the best things I've ever done. Even though I wanted to give up several times & just go home.
I missed my mom. I missed Lacey. I missed my bed.
I knew I wanted to finish strong, and I knew I'd be so proud of myself when I was done, so I decided to get tough. And now, I can honestly say, I want to go back, which is pretty big considering how much I was wishing I could stay home. I had a pretty great time.

My friends mom was asking how I felt about my mom being able to go to Nevada and my sister being able to go to Denver when all I got to go to was Rapid City. I told her is was no problem! There are a lot of cute cowboys out there, you see. ;)

Example A: Tuf Cooper. World champion cowboy. Andddd he's a Christian! Yay! (you may be able to see "Jesus" stitched into his collar.) I'm a fan.

I guess I also forgot how beautiful South Dakota is. I mean, I want to live there now! So awesome.

Jim (our rep and great friend) took me to Mount Rushmore on my day off. He was so incredibly kind to me, he even bought my some GT's kombucha when I was sick.

I'll post about my birthday later, which we celebrated after I got home. :)

Travel.

School and life have been keeping me pretty busy.
My life is about to get much busier for the next few weeks, though.  Tomorrow, in fact, I leave for South Dakota for work.  I'll be there for two weeks, and then my mom leaves for Vegas for a working trip a few days after I get home.  Our family isn't going to be together much until mid February!
Hopefully then life will settle down a bit. :)

I'm loving Pinterest so much! Here's some of my favorites:

I probably won't be blogging while I'm gone, but you never know!

the hunger games

{Warning: this contains spoilers! Go read the books, and then come back. That means you too, Jessie! :)}

I have to say, I was a bit skeptical when I heard everyone raving about these books.

Well...
I got the book set for Christmas, and when I started them a day later, I was done in 4 days.
They are SO good.
I finished the last book a week or so ago, and I am completely hooked. I can't wait for the movie to come out!

I have to say, while I really love the Hunger Games, Catching Fire is probably my favorite. Because by that time, you know Katniss isn't actually always faking being in love with Peeta. But seriously, she could just make up her mind already between him and Gale. Go for the gold, I say, because Peeta is seriously golden. If I was in her place though, would I really act any different? I mean, she's only 17 by this time, so she's still pretty young.

The Mocking Jay is probably the most heart wrenching book. Ever. Not only is Peeta missing from the first half of the book, but when he gets rescued, he's been hijacked! I just about died when I read that he almost choked Katniss. Gahhhh!
The best quote from the whole series right here:

"You're still trying to protect me. Real or not real," he whispers.
"Real," I answer. "Because that's what you and I do. Protect each other."

That line just kills me each time.

I'm definitely a happy ending person, so in my mind, the ending of Mocking Jay could've been longer. But I know it was meant to be that way on purpose. So in the end, I'm glad that at least it has a happy ending.

Hey, it's only 76 days until the movie comes out, right?

P.S! I forgot to add, today is my little brothers 12th birthday! Happy Birthday, Daniel!

review: my year

What a year this has been. Full of trials to be sure, but a lot of awesomeness, too.
Some of the highlights were trips to the farmers market, going to England & Paris, Duluth, the Minnesota State fair, and the Packers & Vikings game, the sock hop-just to name a few.

Some of you may have noticed I haven't blogged much lately.  Partially it's being busy, but another part is lack of inspiration. I'm working on the inspiration part, so we'll see if I'm not blogging more in the future.

But for now I'll leave you with the highlights of my year. :)

Farmers' Market

farmers market-edit
One of my favorite things to do in the spring and summer is go tot the farmers' market. I just love seeing all the different things for sale and the bright array of flowers.

I remember this was such a fun day with my mom. I also got some sugar-free ice cream on this day too. It was hard not eating the whole container in one sitting. ;)

Now onto England & France. You can read about my 5 posts here

emily & I
What can I say about this trip? This was the trip of a lifetime, and I'm so glad I was able to spend it with my mom and sister.

france
a week in Paris. Let's just say I'd pack my bags and go there today, if I had the chance.

One of my favorite day trips. I've been noticing how a lot of these posts were during the summer. Must be because I have free time then.

minnesota state fair
this day is always a highlight of my summer. I'm not sure what makes it so magical, but to me it's such a fun day to spend with my family eating junk food.

This was my second year of going. Total blast! But it definitely helps when you're team is the best.

Our 4-H sock hop

IMAG0314
This year I was on the planning committee and my idea for the theme of our banquet was a sock hop. All in all I'd say it was a hit.

I would have to say this has been a most fabulous year. Maybe even the best ever?? (I think I say that every year, though.)

Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas from Lacey

It's hard to believe that Christmas eve is tomorrow!
For a while, it seems like it will never come, but here it is.
Time flies when you're having fun, they say.

If Lacey (aka Rudolph) sent out a Christmas card, this is what it would look like. ;)

Korte

A month or so ago, my mom & I walked into a sporting goods store.  They were having a big sale on skis.  My mom was looking for some new skis, and I came along for something to do.  I had tried skiing last year and I had lots of fun.  I wasn’t particularly interested in buying skis…Until… Well, let’s just say we had a good salesman (who was a pro skier himself) and the next thing I knew, I was the proud owner of some cross country skis.

To make a long story short, my mom, sister & I are all signed up for the Kortelopet ski race next February, in Hayward (we went last year when my cousin participated in the Birkie).  I am very excited- to say the least. :)  Yesterday we got the conformation postcards in the mail.  Yay!

We got some more snow today, let’s hope we get more soon!
